My Story:

After 49 years of doing the hamster-wheel in California, I finally left it all
and decided to see what Southeast Asia had to offer. I moved to the Philippines
for 6 years, experienced some of the best times of my entire life!

Now, I am exploring again and living in Vietnam. Join me as I venture out to see
more of Vietnam and the surrounding areas. I will share with you my thoughts on
what I see and how I handle the various challenges of living as a full-time expat
in Southeast Asia. For more photos and non-Youtube videos, join or follow my
Facebook page.

  6. I have lived in Philippines for 4 years. I have kids in college I plan to go back to Alaska for 3 Months per year in Summer. I can live in my R V and My kids and I can have Quality Time Camping and Fishing in Alaska. I like S E Asia and I will never move back to U S full time. I dont know of anywhere that I would rather spend summers than Alaska. Winters are a different story. 15 to 20 below zero for weeks on end is too much for me as I am not as tough as I used to be. Spending a few months in Alaska with my kids every summer and living in S E Asia is the best of both worlds for me.

  7. so many people do not understand my expat desires. and i've tried to tell them my experiences and they don't get it. but I think you hit a key that has not come up before. They couldn't ever leave their family ties. well I don't have any. There's a big difference right there.

  8. Really enjoy your videos , although very simple is extreme enlightening – as i pay close attention you give and unforgettable analogy
i hope to move to Philippines and enjoy the life there . Can thank you for great insight .
    Aloha Bra and Mahalo

  9. I have no issue leaving my country for Vietnam because of my family issue. My mum is a tyrannical monster and my dad is a smoldered chicken that looks live he got boiled alive by my mum. He literally looked like Wilson in Robinson crusoe. Anyways, he is a straight out pussy and watching him hammered by my mum make me a loser in life because I thought that was how a man should behave and not be independent. I am 30 and yet I have not achieved shit in my life. So I went to Vietnam and focus on my business. I basically give the fuck you to my parents and only went back during chinese new year to get Hong bao money. It is typical in Asian countries for men to be soy boys but I am bucking the trend. I always knew I wanted to be independent and carve my way out in life. Jordan Peterson says that tyrannical mum and soy boy fathers are a recipe for disaster and I could totally understand that. So I would to add that life is hard man so just get rich or die trying

  10. Your very lucky , I live in Hong Kong where my son my dil and 3 grandchildren …. Returned to UK for a short stay have daughters there and grandchildren love em to bits …. My youngest daughter refuses to see me although my grandsons have ,,,just hope she will change her mind before I return xxx

  11. Reekay would you say that most Philippinas would prefer to remain in the Philippines or would they prefer to move to the States ? For me I would absolutely have to live in the States as I have my business interests there that I need to manage.
Also with regards to marriage and its risks , particularly if it is born out of a LDR , is it better to marry in Vegas or the US in general vs the Philippines in the event that the marriage just didn’t work out and I needed to get out of it ?
Also your thoughts on a prenup ?

  12. I've seen these situations with guys marrying filipinas all the time. As you all know, you run the risk of marrying the whole family. My best advice to those guys over 30 who enjoy their privacy is to live the single life and keep busy and have your girlfriend over a few times a week. But man, when I think of living in the Philippines I remember all the heat and humidity for so many months, along with the 80 inches of rain a year. A few months in winter is all I can really stand. Plus, 100 million people, pollution, brown-outs, the wild wild west culture, the noise, horrible traffic congestion in the cities, Island living, energy costs, con men..the Philippines can be very tough to live in as they don't have a lot of infrastructure that other countries like Vietnam and Thailand do. Now, if everything in Angeles City was still like it was back in 1994 I'd say that would be a perfect place but Angeles City is 10X more crowded and dangerous than it was back then. Living in Thailand is a piece of cake compared to living in the Philippines, they're very service oriented and have a much better infrastructure just the women aren't really as pretty and there is a language barrier. I love the women in the Philippines but where you can live comfortably there?

  13. Henry, I have to say that I don’t know how you have constantly come up with great topics over the years, and been able to convey your message and thoughts so well. For me, your videos just keep getting better and better and I could watch them and listen to you for hours. So often I can relate to what you are saying, and I have learned so much through you. I’m sure you must inspire many people. Thank you for doing what you do.

  14. very good advice.. wish i had did the two island thing.. would be alot more peaceful at the house…you lock your gate.. they crawl over it..hahaha

  15. my uncle (fathers brother) married into an Italian family very close emotional and geography and when we would visit you would see the rest of her family 4 or 5 or more  times during that week. Lots of big dinners and time by the pool or playing a card game called shanghai rummy that can have unlimited players you just add more decks of cards those were some of the best an most enjoyable time I can remember really miss them.  Really enjoyed the visit with you that's what it felt like more than a vlog,  have a good day.

  16. Thanks Reekay.. You have helped me more than you know. Have lived with guilt of not being back in the states for my grandkids. Been in The phillipines 3 years.
